Fun Facts About Our Mods

Within our network of 10,000+ Mods around the world, it should come as no surprise that we have some unique stories to tell. As if covering 70+ countries and 50+ languages and dialects wasn’t diverse enough, we all come from different backgrounds and experiences.

At first glance, you might think some of these past experiences have nothing to do with our work in digital engagement… but you’d be surprised! We hope you have as much fun reading these fun facts as we did learning about them!

Laura Ankerson has played twice in the National APA Championship Pool Tournament in Las Vegas, Nevada.
“I look at work as if it’s a game of pool. The game is the same, but each game and each shot is always different; that’s my approach to customer service. Each engagement is an opportunity to further improve my game.”

Mathew Monsma is a scratch golfer (for those who don’t know, that means he can play to a course handicap of zero on all rated golf courses).
“It take patience, dedication, and belief in self to play at a high level in golf. I believe my accomplishments on the golf course have helped me in every aspect of my life, and not just work. You can find out who a person is very quickly by playing a game of golf with them.”

Antoinette Lavern spent ten years as a paramedic.
“To be a paramedic, you have to be able to think fast on your feet and figure things out when they fall outside the norm.”

Andrea Vitali has written poetry since he was eight years old. For the past 15 years, he’s also been a part of a Medieval reenactment group in his home of Tuscany, Italy.
“For my current project, I engage with customers on social media to promote tourism in Ireland. Being able to write poetically epic prose is a big part of crafting engaging responses.”

Eva Galletta has a PhD in Bioscience and Biotechnology. In addition to her work as a Mod, she has spent the past 5 years researching muscular dystrophies and genetic diseases.
“Working in a lab for so many years made me very methodic and analytical, especially when there is a problem to solve. I tend to never jump to conclusions and always carefully look into every aspect of a problem.”

Krystalle Voecks was the co-host, SME, and DJ on Dragon Con’s MMO track for several years. It was her her killer jams that kept several celebrity attendees on the dance floor late into the night.
“There’s an enormous amount of work that goes into keeping conventions like Dragon Con running smoothly. Getting to lead an eclectic team at a huge pop culture convention, along with being well-versed in the culture of games and gamers, has helped me to be a better Mod – and now project manager – here at ModSquad!”

Marcel Beaudoin was an officer in the Royal Canadian Artillery and regularly worked with high explosives on only a few hours of sleep.
“A lot of focus is required to work with high explosives, especially when tired. That same focus helps me ensure that no matter how long the day is, I do my job correctly and to the quality expected by our clients.”
