Project Manager of the Quarter – April 2017

ModSquad

It’s time once again to highlight a member of our ModSquad project management team — someone who stands out not only because of his success managing his own projects, but for his dedication to helping others do the same. Congratulations to our April 2017 Project
Manager of the Quarter, David Follo!

David has been with ModSquad for six years, during which time he has worked in some capacity on about 40 different projects across all the services – customer support, moderation, community and social media management – that ModSquad provides. David first became a Mod while he was pursuing his degree at Full Sail University. At the time, the flexibility of working remotely and designing his own schedule was exactly what he needed to complement his studies.

Within his first year at ModSquad, David quickly stood out, to both his peers internally and his clients, and he soon took on the role of project manager. Since graduating, his degree in Game Design has made him especially effective with a number of our gaming clients.

As a project manager, David has to stay on top of numerous tasks, each just as important as the next, in order to keep both his clients and Mods happy. Above all, however, David considers strong client relationships to be of utmost importance.

Building a solid ModSquad-client relationship is paramount to the success of a project. Having open lines of communication keeps us all engaged and on the same page, which is important in an ever-changing and sometimes quickly changing market.

He also knows the importance of setting clear, measurable goals and making sure the entire team not only is aligned on those goals but also has all the resources they need to achieve them. That, of course, includes being open and available whenever his team might need him.

You can turn an average team into a great team by getting everyone on the same page, and having a great team is half the battle!

Over the past year, in addition to project management, David has been putting his experience to use helping out other management teams to ensure their projects run smoothly and to their greatest potential. He’s also been working with one of our digital publishing clients, helping them manage a high volume of contacts across a growing business model that encompasses multiple brands.

My proudest moments are seeing the success of my peers and knowing I played a role in helping them achieve their goals both professionally and personally.

In the time David’s been with ModSquad, he’s made a definite impression on many of those he’s worked with.

“David is a powerhouse and certainly has developed a reputation in the company for being a PM who has a “whatever it takes” attitude. He is diverse and genuinely cares for those under him. He is able to take anything thrown at him and uses it to make things better. While I have only had the pleasure of working with David one time, I have been able to see his work which has been stellar!”
—Kelly Clendenning, Account Manager

“Dave Follo is a fantastic project manager. He came in and did a complete overhaul on a project for me. He streamlined the way quality assurance and reporting were done, reducing the amount of time that has to be spent on those tasks. He also created an awesome resource site for the Mods to use during their shifts to find answers to any questions they could possibly have.

“I’ve always found Dave to be willing to help when asked and very communicative on how he’s doing on tasks. I’m so glad he’s been voted PM of the Quarter!”
—Donna McKee, Account Manager

“When David contacts People Ops, he always includes all the necessary information the first time. He has an in-depth understanding of the tools we use, knows the processes in and out, and knows what to include when he reaches out. Without a doubt, it’s project managers like David who make our lives so much easier!”
—Gina Miller, Director of People Operations
