Project Manager of the Quarter — May 2020

ModSquad

Sarah Christian has found her niche. Currently in her eighth year at ModSquad, our latest Project Manager of the Quarter is all about community.

In her college days, Sarah volunteered her time to provide community forum moderation, community management, and in-game moderation services to the former Frogster Interactive Pictures AG. It was time well-spent, as her experience served as the bedrock of her career. In her current role, Sarah uses her knowledge and passion for community engagement and community content moderation. We can’t disclose which brand Sarah is providing services for, but we’ll bet many of you have enjoyed playing games on this console from time to time.

Sarah helps build communities for clients with an able group of Mods — and with smart planning. She emphasizes the importance of resource building to the success of any engagement. “Projects run smoothly when there is thorough and organized documentation on services and processes,” she says. “Having a robust knowledge base [KB] accessible 24/7 is crucial.”

The creation of those KBs is facilitated by feedback from the Mods. “They work daily with the resources I build out,” explains Sarah. “If a format or layout can be improved or be made more efficient, Mods always let me know. It’s not just about having a collection of information; resources need to be adapted and expanded as services, tools, and client goals evolve over time.”

Sarah’s strong bond with the Mods extends beyond guiding them through winning projects. She also considers her favorite ModSquad moments to be those celebrating Mod achievements.

“I’m thrilled for the passionate Mods whose exceptional performances are recognized. I always encourage Mods to diversify their skill sets and pursue opportunities. The best moments at ModSquad are seeing and sharing in the success of the Mods.”

An energetic go-getter, Sarah lets off steam with a similar enthusiasm, making time for numerous pastimes. Having recently relocated to California from Pennsylvania, you may find Sarah exploring her new stomping grounds in search of the perfect roller skating location. A born performer, Sarah also enjoys singing and dancing, and shows off her creative side as an active cosplayer: “I’ve been able to do a lot more with cosplay since relocating because there are many large conventions in this state. My first convention was Crunchyroll Expo in San Jose last year, where I cosplayed Spider-Gwen from Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse.”

Also helping to satisfy Sarah’s intellectual curiosity are the online education courses she takes as time permits. With that level of drive and determination, it’s no surprise Sarah has seen such success in her Project Manager role. For those with their eye on achieving that position in the company, Sarah offers these words of advice:

“The digital spaces we work with are unique because they’re constantly evolving and changing. There will always be opportunities to learn and grow in this industry; view a webinar, take an online course, read books and industry articles, follow and participate in professional discussions online, attend an industry convention or event, and network with others in your field. By listening and learning, you will be better prepared in an ever-changing digital landscape.”

One of ModSquad’s true gems, Sarah has garnered many fans during her years with the company. We asked some of her colleagues to talk a bit about Sarah’s many talents.

“Sarah and I started working together when she took over a big-name project last year. She immediately established herself, quickly becoming an expert and meshing with the Mods and the client. The Mods were ecstatic; their quality and efficiency have never been as high and consistent as they are because of Sarah. The client has been completely blown away by her accomplishments; because of their trust in her, they have greatly increased the size and scope of the project. Sarah’s professionalism, attention to detail, incredibly strong work ethic, and (most importantly) positive attitude really set her apart. She is what we should all strive to be. I’m honored to be able to work with her. Thank you, Sarah!” — Matt H., Account Manager

“Sarah is great. She moved across the country to help oversee a key project in our Sacramento Operations Center. We’ve seen increased client satisfaction and project growth under Sarah’s watch. We’re incredibly lucky to have her!” — Jason F., Sr. Director, Client Services
