Play Games. Heal Kids. Extra Life is Here to Brighten 2020!

Imagine a charity that raises more than $70 million for sick and injured kids, and does it by having people play video games for 24 hours straight. Let’s face it, just the game-playing part alone is awesome, but to raise that much money while doing it? Amazing. That’s why we love Extra Life. The annual event hosts thousands of gamers from around the world who come together to live stream their game play as they raise donations from viewers, friends, family, and other participants. But it’s not just about gaming!

We’ve got a long history with Extra Life. Since 2014, we’ve helped raise tens of thousands of dollars for this incredible cause, which supports Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals. And each year we kick it up a notch, adding more games, more streams, more events, and more challenges. But most of all, we’re adding more ways for non-gamers and other viewers to participate, donate, and help fundraise! Last year, we placed in the top 30 fundraisers out of nearly 5,000 teams. We’re determined to do even better in 2020, and we’re off to a great start. But we need your help!

In the wake of COVID-19, these children’s hospitals need your support more than ever. And while social distancing may prevent us from coming together in our Operations Centers as we’ve done in previous years, we’ll still be making close connections with one another with an action-packed 24 hours of fun and games streamed from our homes.

On Saturday, November 7, starting at 8:00 A.M. Pacific time, tune in to twitch.tv/modsquadinc to watch as Team ModSquad plays 24 hours of Jackbox, Among Us, Fall Guys, Family Feud, and other entertaining games. But even if you’re not a gamer, there’s a ton of fun events planned! Members of Team ModSquad will be accepting increasingly crazy donation challenges and incentives such as hot sauce roulette, mystery pies, all the way up to someone shaving off their hair for the right price! You won’t want to miss it.

As if the chance to see someone eat dog biscuits isn’t enough, here’s another incentive to give to the cause. This year, when you donate to Team ModSquad, your gift is worth twice as much. ModSquad will match the total amount raised by the team up to $20,000! So please give generously.

And here’s another new development that we’re really excited about: We’ve greatly expanded the goodies available in our online auction. You may recall that last year we offered limited-edition ModSquad Extra Life T-shirts, which remain highly coveted among members of the Squad. (Fear not: 2020 editions will be up for bid.) This year we’re adding some really cool items to the mix, many direct from our super-artistic Mod community and our fantastic clients. Check out some of the goodies available:

  • Brighten up your home office with beautiful original paintings and folk art.
  • Spread some joy with handmade greeting cards and custom party invitations.
  • Get your caffeine fix with some custom roasted coffee and artisanal chocolate.
  • And you’ll want to jump at the chance to snag an autographed album by (hint) “someone you loved.” (Okay, we’ll give: It’s Lewis Capaldi!)

Check out ModSquad’s online auction, now through November 8.

We’ve got other pre-event happenings planned, including a kickoff party in Second Life on October 23, an internal trivia-week event (starting November 2) where simply answering questions can raise money for Extra Life, and two full weeks of pre-game live streams hosted by our Mod team, starting October 26 on Twitch. For a complete rundown of events, including game times and donation incentives and challenges, visit our Extra Life 2020 info page.

So please join ModSquad’s global team and be a hero for those who need it most. You can also help by spreading the word on social media and encouraging your friends to share Team ModSquad’s Extra Life page on their social channels. We’ll see you on Saturday, November 7.
