ModSquad’s 2020 Extra Life Efforts

ModSquad

Care. It’s a key element to all that we do here at ModSquad. Whether it’s moderation, community management, customer service, or social media, many of the actions we take make the virtual world a better place. It’s not surprising that our Mods are some of the most passionate and caring individuals we know.

In addition to striving to make the virtual world a kinder and more accessible place, we also work to drive change in the real world. That’s why we’re proud to announce that we’re once again joining Extra Life in their continued efforts to help children who need it most. For the seventh consecutive year, we’re supporting their mission to raise funds in support of sick and injured kids. During that time, we’ve helped raise tens of thousands of dollars for this incredible cause. In fact, ModSquad matches every donation raised by Team ModSquad, up to $20,000 — a goal our team has shattered in the past few years.

Extra Life is so much more than your standard fundraising effort. For us, it’s a passion project, one to which many at ModSquad devote their time and energy. The Mods and the entire ModSquad community come together to participate in this marathon 24-hour fundraising event, whether by streaming video games, joining teams, participating in fun challenges, rooting on their friends, or making donations. The various inventive ways in which everyone gets involved speaks to the diversity of talent that exists within our community.

If you’ve followed our Extra Life events over the past few years, you’re likely aware that the charity primarily raises money through gaming and live streaming. Gamers come together on streaming platforms like Twitch, Facebook, and YouTube, and play their hearts out to raise money for Children’s Miracle Network hospitals all across the United States and Canada.

Avid video game players and live streamers have a natural way to join in — they just do what they’re already doing and sign up to participate in our Extra Life pre-stream events. While the big day is November 7, 2020, ModSquad actually participates in streams for weeks beforehand. Volunteers streaming from their own channels can sign up to be hosted by ModSquad’s official handle, helping to boost visibility and attract more donations for children in need.

Not everyone is a streamer, though, and we at ModSquad want to give everyone the opportunity to be involved and make a difference. That’s why we’re expanding our efforts to include people with a variety of talents and help them find ways to lend their skills to the cause. Mods with any passion can join in and make a real difference; we’re always open to new ideas. Whether that means helping behind the scenes or creating personal fundraisers, there’s a way for everyone to get involved.

We’re enormously proud of our Mods and the entire ModSquad crew. It takes caring and passionate people to put the needs of others first, and there’s certainly no shortage of Mods who do just that. No matter how they choose to be involved, each and every one of us here at ModSquad is doing their part in making things a bit easier for kids in need. Now that’s something to celebrate.
