Congratulations to Gulnur R. — our Mod of the Month for May 2015! We love featuring our mods as it gives us a bit more of a glimpse into the diverse and amazing lives of our global team.

2015-03-06 20.19.08 HDR (2)Gulnur has been in Metaverse for three years. She found us upon moving to the countryside in Wales, UK. It was a bit quiet and she was having trouble adjusting after leaving busy and hectic London. We were looking for a bilingual mod (Turkish-English) to help with game moderation and ticket support with our fantastic client Kabam. Previous to finding Metaverse, she had worked in a call center in Belfast, Northern Ireland and loved it. Metaverse seemed like the perfect opportunity for her, and a fantastic candidate for us!

Years later, she’s a rockstar for our client, JibJab, working in customer support. Gulnur is a big fan of support and call centers, as they give her an opportunity to communicate with people from all walks of life.

As a team player, Gulnur enjoys collaboration. She’s easy-going and keeps calm in stressful situations, yet diligent and hardworking. She considers herself a “Global/Cultural/Digital Nomad,” meaning she’s a fangirl of many cultures who loves being in the heart of diversity. And Gulnur is quirky, as she, herself, says: “I never used to find myself quirky even though this is what my best friends use to describe me as a person. I think it’s all about improvisation and being truthful to your self. I love quirky people and quirky things.”

Gulnur is a novice in yoga, and practices Hot Pod Vinyasa yoga three times a week to help find the perfect balance between the mind and the body. She loves traveling, hiking, and photography, and since moving to Wales she has started surfing and coasteering (this is a sport that was invented in Wales before spreading to the rest of the world). She loves live music gigs, festivals, and is a big movie buff (especially in relation to Sci Fi, Marvel Comic movies, and binge-able shows like True Blood, Game of Thrones, Daredevil, and Marco Polo).

Screen Shot 2015-05-26 at 1.10.09 PMOne of her favorite memories while working at Metaverse happened as recently as last week.  While assisting a customer, Gulnur took the initiative to get a free extra year of membership approved for the individual as a make-good (CS term). The customer replied, grateful at the effort and kindness, adding it had given the her an extra boost in morale that day. As it turns out, the customer was recently diagnosed with cancer and was on her way to her first treatment, and she needed a smile. “The first time I read [her reply] on my computer screen, I felt really tearful. What I did was very little, however it made someone genuinely happy who needs emotional support in a difficult time like this. Nothing else could be more emotionally rewarding, and I really thank Metaverse for giving me an opportunity to do what I love doing, and be myself.”

I nominate Gulnur for Mod of the Month. She provides outstanding
phone and ticket support for our client. What makes her great on the phone
is her friendly attitude and desire to make the customer happy. She goes
above and beyond on each phone call by touching on all points minor or
major to ensure the customer has the best experience possible with our
client’s product.

Gulnur is always reliable and loves helping out the team on short notice.
