Alumni Spotlight: Vincent Grippi

ModSquad

It’s always a pleasure to catch up with old friends, as we do in each installment of our Alumni Spotlight. This time, we’re heading to the Big Apple to reminisce with Vincent Grippi, who worked for ModSquad from 2012 to 2014.

Vincent’s a familiar face here on the ModSquad blog, having produced and edited a number of articles in his day. That’s when he wasn’t fulfilling his duties as a project manager — creating and managing social strategies for many brands, running digital promotions for clients, and hosting orientation sessions and webinars. We think back to our time with Vincent fondly, and we’re happy to hear that the feeling is mutual: “ModSquad,” he notes, “is the best at what you do.”

What brought you to ModSquad?

That’s a funny story. When I was in college, I shot a feature film and didn’t have a large budget, so I used Twitter to promote the film. That’s how I got into social media. Later on, I replied to an ad for work at ModSquad. Everyone there seemed young, very personable, and dedicated to their work, which gave a very different impression than the standard corporate demeanor. Everyone understood me, I understood them, and ModSquad understood the work. It proved to be a pivotal stepping stone in my early career growth.

Working from home is just great. When I’m able to do it, I’m much more efficient, and my quality of life is so much better. I loved the flexibility! When I left, I took a job in New York City and discovered how a very busy office environment can easily distract team members from working with 100% efficiency and consciousness.

What did you do for ModSquad?

I was a social media project manager, consulting with new clients and customizing their digital strategies from the ground up. I also managed teams that would execute the work and reported to ModSquad management.

What are you doing now?

I’m the Senior Media Relations Manager for CareCentrix, where I spearhead all of our digital and traditional media work. This includes, but is not limited to, content strategy, digital advertising, and public relations. CareCentrix partners with providers and health plans in the transition to value-based care by managing post-acute care services that support improved outcomes and efficient care delivery.

What did you take away from your time at ModSquad?

Working for ModSquad was an incredible experience. Even though I worked remotely, I always felt very much integrated with the overall infrastructure of the company and my respective teams. At ModSquad, I learned the value of working with clients from diverse industries. In customizing strategies for clients in varying (and often unrelated) verticals, I was able to challenge myself to be more dynamic in my approach to digital strategy, while expanding my skillset to employ a wider range of digital marketing tactics. Because of this experience, I do not feel limited to any particular vertical. From kids’ entertainment to healthcare, I can take on anything!

ModSquad allowed me to challenge myself at a very early stage in my career by giving me responsibilities and challenges that are quite uncommon for recent college graduates. While it may have been intimidating at first, I was up for each and every task. In turn, I was shaped into a better manager and a stronger worker. As an individual, there’s nothing better than to be challenged in your daily work.
